Baltic Sun Opening Gala

The first day of the inaugural Baltic Sun festival will be kicked off with a grand gala concert in the courtyard of Narva Castle! World-renown conductor Kristjan Järvi will bring together several generations of Estonian musicians. In the first part of the gala, some of the most brilliant artists of Estonian pop, rock, electronic and classical music – NOËP, Erki Pärnoja, string quartet Prezioso and DJ Sander Mölder – take the stage. In the second part, the festival will be graced by legendary Anne Veski, who is going to perform her indelible hits.

Kristjan Järvi is the artistic director of the first part of the Baltic Sun gala concert.

From conductor to producer, composer, arranger. Kristjan Järvi embraces it all with an indomitable spirit of creative and innovative entrepreneurship. Kristjan Järvi has ‘earned a reputation as one of the canniest, and most innovative, programmers on the classical scene’ (Reuters). As a conductor, he directs the performances of great classics ranging from Wagner to Radiohead and feels at home on large international stages.

As a recording artist, Järvi has more than 60 albums to his credit, from soundtracks for Hollywood productions such as “Cloud Atlas”, “Sense 8” (both produced by the Wachowski sisters), “Hologram for the King” (dir. Tom Tykwer), to his award-winning albums on Sony Classical and Chandos, to his eponymous series, “The Kristjan Järvi Sound Project”. Launched in 2014, the series features projects from each of Järvi’s ensembles.
